Food Noise Tracker

This privacy policy explains how Food Noise Tracker (“the app”) handles your information. This policy supplements the Add Jam Limited Privacy Policy, which applies to all Add Jam products.
What the app does
Food Noise Tracker helps you track intrusive thoughts about food throughout the day. You log instances of “food noise” with a strength rating from 1 to 10, and the app provides visual analytics and insights about your patterns over time. The app also supports iOS widgets and Apple Watch for quick logging.
Your data stays on your device
Food Noise Tracker does not collect, transmit or share any personal information. All your data is stored locally on your device using on-device storage. Nothing is sent to our servers or any third-party service.
We have no servers, no databases and no way to access your data. This is by design.
Information stored on your device
Incident logs
Each time you log a food noise event, the app stores:
- A unique identifier (generated locally)
- The timestamp of the log
- Your strength rating (1 to 10)
No text, notes or descriptions are captured. The app does not record what food you were thinking about.
Onboarding selections
During setup, you may select:
- Your reason for tracking (e.g. mindfulness, weight management)
- A health goal (e.g. balanced diet, snack less)
These are multiple-choice selections, not free text. You can choose “prefer not to share” for either.
Preferences
The app stores your settings locally:
- Daily reminder time
- Week start day (Sunday or Monday)
- Haptic feedback toggle
- Theme preference (light, dark or system)
iOS widgets and Apple Watch
If you use the iOS widget or Apple Watch app, summary data (today’s count, average strength, streak, last 7 days) is cached in a shared App Group on your device. This data never leaves your device.
What we do not collect
- No account information (the app has no sign-in or registration)
- No email addresses or names
- No location data
- No health or fitness data from Apple Health or Google Fit
- No photos, contacts or calendar data
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No crash reports
- No advertising identifiers
- No data transmitted to any server
Third-party services
Food Noise Tracker does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting or data collection services.
The only external service is Expo Updates, which delivers app code updates over the air. This does not transmit any of your personal data or logged incidents.
Push notifications
The app can send you a daily reminder notification at a time you choose. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device using local notifications. No notification data is sent to our servers.
You can disable reminders at any time in the app settings.
Data export
You can export all your incident data as a JSON file from Settings. The export contains your logged incidents only. Where you send that file (email, cloud storage, messaging) is your choice and outside our control.
Data deletion
Because all data is stored on your device, you have full control:
- Delete individual entries: long-press any log entry in the History tab
- Delete your last log: tap “Delete Last Log” in Settings
- Delete all data: tap “Delete All Data” in Settings. This permanently removes all logged incidents and cannot be undone
- Uninstall the app: removing Food Noise Tracker from your device deletes all app data
There is no server-side data to delete because we never had access to it in the first place.
Children’s privacy
Food Noise Tracker is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app stores no data externally, there is no personal data for us to identify or remove.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the app. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
