This privacy policy explains how Weight Habits (“the app”) collects, uses and protects your information. This policy supplements the Add Jam Limited Privacy Policy, which applies to all Add Jam products.
What the app does
Weight Habits is a mindful eating awareness app. Each day it asks you a simple question about your eating habits. You answer Yes, No or Not sure. Optionally, you can set weight goals, track your height and weight and share your progress with friends.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in, we collect:
- Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In: your email address, display name (if provided by the sign-in provider) and a unique user ID
- Anonymous sign-in: a unique user ID only. No email or name is collected unless you later link your account to Apple or Google
Profile information
You may optionally provide:
- Display name (visible to friends you invite)
- Height
- Current weight
- Target weight
- Goal type (lose, maintain or gain weight)
- Preferred units (kg/lbs/stone, cm/ft-in)
All profile information is optional. The app works without any of it.
Check-in data
Each time you check in, we store:
- Your response (Yes, No or Not sure)
- The date of the check-in
Friends and sharing
If you use the friends feature, we store:
- Friendships you create or accept (invite codes, participant IDs, display names)
- Sharing preferences (which data you choose to share with each friend)
- Encouragement messages sent between friends (from a pre-defined list, not free text)
You control exactly what you share with friends through individual toggles for check-ins, current weight and target weight. No data is shared with friends unless you explicitly enable it.
Notification preferences
If you enable evening reminders, we store your preferred reminder time. This is synced to your account so it persists across devices.
Device information
- Push notification token: used to deliver evening reminder notifications. Stored on your account and updated when your device token changes.
- Crash reports: sent to Sentry (sentry.io) when the app encounters an error. These include device type, OS version and a stack trace. They do not include your personal data or check-in responses.
- Analytics events: sent to Firebase Analytics. Events include screen views, check-in actions and feature usage. Analytics collection is disabled in development builds. Events are anonymised and cannot be linked back to your account after deletion.
How we use your information
- To provide the app’s core features (check-ins, goals, journey tracking)
- To enable friend sharing and encouragements
- To deliver push notifications (evening reminders, friend activity)
- To fix bugs and improve the app (crash reports and analytics)
- To verify your identity when you sign in
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-party services
The app uses the following third-party services:
| Service | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication | Sign-in and account management | Email, user ID |
| Cloud Firestore | Data storage | All app data (encrypted in transit and at rest) |

| Sentry | Crash reporting | Device info, stack traces (no personal data) |
| Apple Sign-In | Authentication | Email, name (as provided by Apple) |
| Google Sign-In | Authentication | Email, name (as provided by Google) |
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit). Firestore data is encrypted at rest by Google Cloud.
Data storage and retention
Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers (Firebase) in the region configured for the project. Data is retained for as long as your account exists.
- Check-in history: retained while your account is active
- Friendships: retained while both participants have active accounts
- Crash reports (Sentry): automatically expired after 90 days
- Analytics data: aggregated and anonymised by Firebase. Individual events cannot be attributed to a user after account deletion
